छत्रपतिंची "शिवराई"- "Currency of maratha's"

Coins of Rajaram Maharaj #3

In last post we have seen three specimen of Chatrapati Rajaram maharaj shivarai. Here now we are going to see some more Exellent specimens of rajaram coins, as we have told u in last post that till now we were having rajaram coins only in square shape but now one specimen we got with round shape, in this post we are presenting that specimen. In this post we are looking at the most beautiful and exellent specimens of rajaram coins. 

Here firstly we are looking at the specimen from Mr Vijay Hiran.

                                         

On this coin on obverse side we are able to see shree/raja/ra(m), and on reverse we can see Chatra/Pati in two lines, kindly check the reverse calligraphy of rajaram coins, all coins calligraphy looks similar to each other. On this coin on reverse there is a symbol on ‘Chatra’, but we are not able to identify that symbol surely.

Now we will see the 5th specimen from Mr.Vijay Hiran. we have made a drawing of a full legend of rajaram coin.

This is a one of the best specimen of rajaram coin with somewhat square shape. On this coin we have (Shree)/ (Ra)ja/ (r)am on obverse with only ‘Ja’ and ‘Ma’ on flan, and Chatra/pati on reverse side, with half dotted border.

This is the 6th rajaram coins specimen from Mr.Vinaykumar Chumble. we have made a drawing of a full legend of this coin.

This is also one of the best example of rajaram coin. On this coin on obverse (shree)/(Raj)a/(Ra)m is visible, the best thing of this specimen is ‘M’ of ‘Ram’ is fully visible on this coin. And on reverse there is Chatra/Pati within Dotted borders.

Next 7th and the most Exellent specimen is from Mr.Ameya Gokhale’s Collection. This is the Best coin Of Rajaram maharaj we have yet. we have made a drawing of a full legend of rajaram coin.

On this coin on obverse (shree)/Raja/Ram is fully visible, the best thing of this specimen is ‘Ram’ is fully visible on this coin with Raja word. And on reverse there is Chatra/Pati within Dotted borders.

So this was the last post of rajaram coins, we have covered near about all the Best specimens of Rajaram coins, thanks all for your support.

Coins of Rajaram Maharaj #2

In last post we have seen the information and one specimen of Chatrapati Rajaram maharaj shivarai. Here now we are going to see more good specimens of rajaram coins, actually till now we were having rajaram coins only in square shape but now one specimen we got with round shape.  

Here firstly we are looking at the specimen from Mr.shriharsh Waghrulkar. He have tried to make a drawing of a full legend of rajaram coin. Coin no-2

On this coin on obverse side we are able to see shree/raja clearly but unfortunately ram is out of flan here, but here good thing is ‘shree’ is clear on this coin which we don’t get on the coins which comes with the word ‘ram’ on the flan, but as the ram is not on the flan so how we can say that this is rajaram coin? Actually we have no proof to prove that but by comparing calligraphy of rajaram coins we can say. As per my observation, the rajaram coins which I have seen yet are with the same reverse calligraphy, and this coin also have the same calligraphy as other rajaram coins have, so from that we can say that this coin is of rajaram maharaj.

Now we will see the 3^rd specimen from Mr.Ramesh Koli. He have also tried to make a drawing of a full legend of rajaram coin. Coin no-3

This is also a good specimen of rajaram coin with somewhat square shape, we can compare calligraphy of this specimen and a specimen we have seen earlier with ram out of flan, especially ‘chatra’ on reverse, its looking same. On this coin we have (Shree)/ (Ra)ja/ (Ra)m on obverse with only ‘Ja’ and ‘Ma’ on flan, and Chatra/pati on reverse side.

Now we will see the specimen from Mr.Vijay Hiran. i myself have tried to make a drawing of a full legend of rajaram coin. this coin we have seen in our last blog but their was no drawing of legend so posting it again, for information purpouses.

as we have seen earlier, On this specimen we can see “(shree)/(r)aja/(R)am" on obverse of this coin, and “chatra/pati” on reverse within dotted border. 'shree' is out of flan here.

We have seen two new specimens of rajaram coins in this post and three specimens yet, more excellent specimens and their information will be shared in the next post.

Coins of Rajaram Maharaj

We have completed our 7 post till now about “shivrai coins”, now its 8^th post, but till now it was in Marathi language, and because of that many non-Marathi readers requested me to convert the blog in english so from now we are going to post our blog in English so every coin collector can take advantage of it.

Till now we have seen shivaji maharaja’s dotted border type shivrai coins, sambhaji maharaja’s different types of shivrai coins and now we are going to see coins of Rajaram maharaj, the younger son of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

After death of Maratha chief Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in 1689 Chatrapati Rajaram Maharaj came to throne, he ruled from 1689-1700 AD. Shivrai Coin of Ch. Rajaram Maharaj is one of the most rare coin of Maratha confederacy, may be because of his short rule his coins are became very rare and are very hard to get at this moment, we have very few specimens of Rajaram Maharaj coins in hand.

The shivrai’s of rajaram maharaj are made up of copper, weighs 9 grams and above. On these coins “shree/raja/ram” is written in 3 lines on obverse, and “Chatra/Pati” On Reverse within dotted border like shivaji maharaj and sambhaji maharaj coins. but till now I have not seen a single specimen shows the full legend on flan, with full visible legend. Sometimes we get “shree/raja” on flan so ‘Ram’ goes out of flan and if we get “Raja/Ram” so Shree goes out. So till now we have no specimen who shows full legend on flan. Mostly we get these coins in square shape. With ‘raja’ and ‘Ra(m)’ on flan.

In this post I will show u one specimen of Rajaram Maharaja’s Shivrai coin.

On this specimen we can see “(r)aja/(R)am on obverse of this coin, and “chatra/pati” on reverse within dotted border.

भाग-5

संभाजी महाराजांच्या चलनाच्या माहीती संबंधीचा हा पाचवा आणि शेवटचा भाग सादर करीत आहे. चार भागात चार विविध प्रकारच्या शिवराई आपण पाहील्या.

* संभाजी महाराजांचे वेगळ्या प्रकारचे नाणे-

संभाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्याचा आणखी एक प्रकार निदर्शनास आलेला आहे. या नाण्यावरील अक्षरलेखन हे बाकी नाण्यांपेक्षा अत्यंत वेगळे आहे. या नाण्यावर पुढील बाजुनी - पहील्या ओळित “श्रीरा” दुसर्या ओळीत “जाशं” आणी तिसर्या ओळित “भु” अशी अक्षरे अंकीत केलेली असुन मागील बाजु नी दोन ओळीत “छत्र/ पति” अंकित केलेले आहे. याचं प्रकारची काही नाणी ही शिवाजी महाराजांनी जिंजी भागातुन पाडलेली आढळतात. त्या नाण्यांवर पुढील बाजुनी पहिल्या ओळीत “श्रीरा”  दुसर्या ओळीत “जाशि” आणी तिसर्या ओळित “व” अशी अक्षरे अंकीत केलेली असुन मागील बाजुनी दोन ओळीत “छत्र/ पति” अंकित केलेले आहे.

अशा प्रकारच्या संभाजी महाराजांच्या शिवराया आपल्याला आत्तापर्यंत उपलब्ध झालेल्या आहेत, या शोधनिबंधासाठी मला फोटो उपलब्ध करुन दिल्याबद्द्ल मी श्री.किरण करांडे, श्री.प्रशांत ठोसर , श्री.किरण शेलार, श्री.अमीत लोमटे आणी श्री. विनय चुंबळे यांचे मनःपुर्वक आभार मानतो.

संभाजी महाराजांची ही “शंभुराई” आज अत्यंत दुर्मिळ झालेली असुन खुपचं क्वचित आज पहायला मिळते, बहुतेक त्यांच्या कमी कार्य काळामुळे ती कमी चलनात असावी व कमीचं पाडलेली असावी, त्यामुळे ती आज एक मौल्यवान गोष्ट झालेली आहे. संभाजी महाराजांना तसे पहाता खुप कमी काळ आयुश्य लाभले पण महाराजांनी या राज्यकर्त्या 9 वर्शांत जे करुन दाखवलं ते कोनी 50 वर्शांतही करु शकणार नाही असं मला वाटतं, महाराजांच्या या कर्तुत्वाला मानाचा मुजरा !!!!!

 “शिवराई” नाण्यांबद्दल ची अशीच माहीती मी आपणापर्यंत पोहचवण्याचा प्रयत्न करेन,

भाग-४

संभाजी महाराजांच्या चलनाच्या माहीती संबंधीचा हा चौथा भाग सादर करीत आहे. पहील्या तिन भागात तिन विविध प्रकारच्या शिवराई आपण 

पाहील्या.

शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काही क्वचित मिळनार्या नाण्यांवर अजुन एक बदल आढळतो, यावर “श्री/ राजा/ सीव” असे तिन ओळीत न येता “श्रीराजा” एका  ओळीत तर “सीव” हे दुसर्या ओळीत आलेले आढळते, ही नाणी खुप कमी आढळतात, आणि हाचं प्रकार आपल्याला संभाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्यांवर ही पहायला मिळतो.

संभाजी महाराजांचे वेगळ्या प्रकारचे नाणे-

संभाजी महाराजांच्या या प्रकारातील नाण्यांवर पहिल्या ओळीत तिन पाकळ्यांचे फुल, दुसर्या ओळीत “श्रीराजा” आणि तिसर्या ओळीत “शंभु” असे अंकीत केलेले असुन मागील बाजुवर दोन ओळीत “छत्र/ पति” ही अक्षरे अंकीत केलेली असतात. या नाण्याचे वजन हे  10 ते 12 ग्रॅम मधेचं आढळत असुन याचा आकार हा वर दाखवलेल्या शंभु प्रमाणेचं आढळतो.काहि संग्राहकांना विचारले असता ही नाणी त्यांना लातुर-चंद्रपुर भागात सापडली आहेत असे ते सांगतात, 1686 नंतर च्या युद्धांदरम्यान महाराज तिकडच्या पट्यात होते असे दिसते तर ही नाणी त्यांनी त्या काळात तिकडे पाडली असावीत,पण यावर काही ठोस पुरावा नसल्याने आपण फ़क्त अंदाजचं मांडु शकतो, बारकाईने निरिक्षन केल्यास या नाण्यावर  पुढील बाजुवरील “शंभु” आणि मागील बाजुवरील “पति” या शब्दांखाली आडव्या रेषा आलेल्या दिसुन येतात, तर आणखी एक म्हणजे या नाण्यावरील “पति” या शब्दाचा “ति” हा उलटा अंकीत केलेला आहे तसेच पुढील बाजुवर पहील्या ओळित तिन पाकळ्यांचे फुल अंकीत केलेले आपल्याला दिसते.

 

“शिवराई” नाण्यांबद्दल ची अशीच माहीती मी आपणापर्यंत पोहचवण्याचा प्रयत्न करेन,

संभाजी महाराजांच्या चलनाच्या माहीती संबंधीचा हा तिसरा भाग सादर करीत आहे. पहील्या दोन भागात दोन विविध प्रकारच्या शिवराई आपण पाहील्या. “श्री/ राजा/ शंभु” ,“छत्र/ पति”  व “श्री/ राजा/ संभु” ,“छत्र/ पति” हे दोन प्रकार मागील दोन भागात आपन पाहीले.

 आता हे पुढील संभाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्यावर येनारी विविध चिन्हे तसेच “श्री/राजा/शंभु” यातील “श्री” या अक्षराचे विविध वळन या भागात आपण पाहनार आहोत.

·         “श्री” अक्षराचे वेगवेगळे वळण- 

 श्री/ राजा/ शंभु/ छत्र/ पति लीहीलेल्या या शंभुराईंवर श्री या अक्षराचे दोन विविध प्रकारात लिखान आढळते, यामधील पहिल्या प्रकारात “श्री” हा साधारण असतो.

 

दुसर्या प्रकारात “श्री” या अक्षरामधुन एक तिरपी रेघ गेलेली असते आणी या नाण्यावर “श्री” अक्षराच्या च्या बाजुला एक बारीक फुल आलेले आपल्याला दिसते.

     “छत्र” शब्दाच्या वर चांदणी-

आणखी एक नाणे आढळलेले आहे ज्यावर पुढील -मागील बाजुचे लेखन समान असुन फ़क्त त्या नाण्यावर छत्र या शब्दाच्या वर एक चांदणी अंकीत केलेली आहे.

“शिवराई” नाण्यांबद्दल ची अशीच माहीती मी आपणापर्यंत पोहचवण्याचा प्रयत्न करेन,

संभाजी महाराजांच्या चलनाच्या माहीती संबंधीचा हा दुसरा भाग आहे. पहील्या भागात पहील्या प्रकारचे संभाजी महाराजांचे नाणे आपण पाहीले, ज्यावर पुढील बाजुनी “श्री/ राजा/ शंभु” असे अंकीत केलेले असुन मागील बाजुनी “छत्र/ पति” अंकीत केलेली असते.

               राजा सिव, राजा सीव

शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काही नाण्यांवर आपल्याला लेखनात बदल आढळलेला आहे त्यात विविधता  पहायला मिळतात, जसे “शिव”या शब्दाएवजी सिव, सीव, शीव असे अंकीत केलेले आढळते. तसेच संभाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्यावर देखिल हा बदल आढ्ळलेला आहे. संभाजी महाराजांच्या या काही नाण्यांवर “शंभु” या शब्दाएवजी “संभु” हा शब्द अंकीत केलेला आहे.

  संभाजी महाराजांचे हे दुसर्या प्रकारचे नाणे-

“श्री/ राजा/ संभु” व “छत्र/ पति”

हे नाणे ही तांब्याचे असुन त्यावर पुढील बाजुनी बिंदुमय वर्तुळात तिन ओळीत “श्री/ राजा/ संभु” व मागील बाजुनी बिंदुमय वर्तुळात दोन ओळीत “छत्र/ पति” अशी अक्षरे अंकीत केलेले असतात. या नाण्याचे वजन, आकार, लेखन हे सर्व शंभु लिहीलेल्या नाण्यासारखेच असुन फ़क्त यावर “शंभु” या शब्दाएवजी “संभु” हा शब्द अंकीत केलेला आहे. बारकाईने निरिक्षन केल्यास

उलटा “छ”

या नाण्यावरील “छत्र” चा “छ” हा उलटा अंकीत केलेला आहे हे लक्षात येते. ही नाण्यासाठी डाय बनवनार्या कामगाराची चुक आहे असे दिसते. काही संग्राहकांना विचारले असता त्यांना ही नाणी कोल्हापुर भागात सापडली आहेत असे ते सांगतात, म्हणजे बहुदा ही नाणी तिकडेच टांकसाळीत करण्यात (पाडण्यात) आली असावीत, पण त्यावर काही ठोस पुरावा नसल्याने नेमकी ही नाणी कोणत्या टांकसाळीत पाडली हे सांगणे कठीण आहे.

“शिवराई” नाण्यांबद्दल ची अशीच माहीती मी आपणापर्यंत पोहचवण्याचा प्रयत्न करेन,

भाग-1

              मागिल दोन पोस्ट मधे आपण छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या  “शिवराई” या नाण्याची माहीती घेतली, छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराजांनंतर” शिवछत्रपतिंप्रमाणेच संभाजी महाराजांनिही त्यांची ताम्र नाणी पाडली ज्यांना त्याकाळी “शिवराई” या नावाने संबोधत असावेत.पुढील तिन-चार पोस्ट मधे आपण संभाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्यांबद्द्ल जाणनार आहोत.

             छत्रपति शिवाजी  महाराजांनी 1680 पर्यंत स्वराज्याचा राज्यकारभार  पाहील्यानंतर त्यांचे पुत्र छत्रपति संभाजी महाराज राज्यावर आले. 1681 ला संभाजी महाराजांचा राज्याभिषेक पार पडल्यानंतर महाराजांनी स्वराज्याचा राज्यकारभार पाहण्यास सुरुवात केली. छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराजांनी सुरु केलेले स्वराज्याचे स्वचलन पुढे संभाजी महाराजांनी ही सुरु ठेवले असे दिसते. राज्याभिशेकानंतरचं संभाजी महाराजांनी नाणी पाडण्यास सुरुवात केली असावी. संभाजी महाराजांच्या धावपळिच्या जीवनामुळे आणि कमी कार्यकाळामुळे त्यांची नाणी ही अत्यंत दुर्मिळ असुन आज खुप कमी प्रमाणात उपलब्ध आहेत.

           ही नाणी शिवाजी महाराजांच्या नाण्यांसारखीच असुन यावर पुढील बाजुनी  “श्री/ राजा/ शिव” च्या एवजी “श्री/ राजा/ शंभु” असे अंकीत केलेले असुन मागील बाजु ही समान म्हणजेचं “छत्र/ पति” अंकीत केलेली असते. जसे आपणास माहीत आहे की संभाजी महाराजांचे उपनाम हे “शंभु” होते त्या कारनाने नाण्यावर पुर्ण “संभाजी” न लिहीता “शंभु” या नावाचा प्रयोग केला असावा. या ताम्र नाण्याचे वजन 10 ते 12 ग्रॅम पर्यंत आढळते. या नाण्यांचे वजन त्यावरील अक्षराचे वळन त्यावरील बिंदुमय वर्तुळ हे शिवछत्रपतिंच्या नाण्याप्रमानेचं आढळते.

            शिवाजी, संभाजी महाराजांची नाणी ही धातुवर हातोड्याने ठोकुन बनवल्यामुळे त्यावरील काही अक्षरे ही नाण्याबाहेर गेलेली  असतात. या प्रकारे पाडलेल्या नाण्यांना क्रुड काईन्स म्हणतात.

                               

·       * छत्रपति संभाजी महाराजांची “शिवराई”

“शिवराई” हे नाणे तांब्याचे असुन त्यावर पुढील बाजुनी बिंदुमय वर्तुळात तिन ओळीत “श्री/ राजा/ शंभु” व मागील बाजुनी बिंदुमय वर्तुळात दोन ओळीत “छत्र/ पति” अशी अक्षरे अंकीत केलेले असतात.

“शिवराई” नाण्यांबद्दल ची अशीच माहीती मी आपणापर्यंत पोहचवण्याचा प्रयत्न करेन,
